Sion is the capital of the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It’s a charming little town with a population of only around 30,000 people. Sion is one of the oldest swiss cities and that can clearly be felt while walking through the streets.

My first thought when I was walking in the streets of Sion: I feel as though I’ve been sucked into one of those paintings we see of the small european towns during the middle ages. Is this for real?! This picture just proves it!

The architecture was sooo different from back home in Thailand. IMO, it pretty much resembled a fairytale setting. To make the place seem even more fairytale-like, there are literally CASTLES on top of the mountains! For someone like me who lives in a big city in Asia, this is completelyyyyyy crazy (in a good way).  It seemed unreal!!

There are 4 castles in Sion, my friend and I decided to hike up to the Valère basilica, which is an old church founded way back in 1200 B.C. !!!

First stop: found an adorable little house in the middle of the mountains!!! <3 The door was as tall as me so only 5.5 feet!! I wonder what it’s like to live here?! I need to find a place like this on AirBnB to try it out for myself lol.

Second stop: Midway of the hike. The view was already crazy beautiful.

After a looong and tiring (lol only 20 minutes) hike we finally got there! Theres a little snack place where you can buy water and other drinks.
