Want to dye your hair a crazy color for the summer but don’t want to bleach it? No problem! Manic Panic has several colors that work amazingly on darker, unbleached hair colors.
According to ManicPanic.com, if your hair color is from a Level 3 (dark brown) – Level 7 (Golden Brown) you can get the best results by using these colors:
- After Midnight®
- Shocking™ Blue
- Green Envy™
- Infra™ Red
- Vampire™ Red
- Purple Haze®
- Hot Hot™ Pink
P.S. the darker your hair is, the less vibrant the color will be. Also, blue dyes may turn green on your hair.
I tested two of Manic Panic’s recommended colors for dark unbleached hair on my hair. My hair had been lightened (NOT BLEACHED) by a lightener to around a level 6.
My hair before:
My hair after dying it with Manic Panic Enchanted Forest™
This is an amazing color ! extremely vibrant and beautiful and also the color lasted for over 4 weeks!!
Surprisingly the ends of my hair were able to turn into a soft pastel green
Overall Rating: ★★★★★
The second color I tried was Manic Panic Purple Haze®.
2 Washes After:
It turned RED. Only after 2 washes!!! I don’t know if thats how quick the color fades or if I just got a fake product (since I ordered it from an online store). Also, the colors texture was really different from Enchanted Forest’s – it was more thick and didn’t go on so easily. I wouldn’t recommend this for dark hair. I later tried the color on bleached hair and it was much more vibrant but still faded really fast.
